WHO WE ARE
Shriners International is a fraternity based on fun, fellowship and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief and truth. With approximately 325,000 members in 194 temples (chapters) in the United States, Canada, Germany, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico and the Republic of Panama our fraternity is open to men of integrity from all walks of life. Shriners International also supports Shriners Hospitals for Children®, a health system of 22 hospitals dedicated to providing pediatric medical care, world-class research and educational opportunities for medical professionals.
Sudan Shriners was established in 1916 in New Bern, North Carolina and serves eastern North Carolina. The Shrine Center was built in 1951 and serves as the headquarters for the Sudan Shriners. Its mission is also to support the Shriners Children's Hospitals.
The South Brunswick Islands Shrine Club Shrine Club is one of 40 Shrine clubs throughout eastern North Carolina that have fun and raise money through various activities and contributions to support the Shriners Children's Hospitals.
OUR PURPOSE
Shriners Hospitals for Children is a health care system with locations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The staff at our 22 facilities is dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing pediatric specialty care, conducting innovative research, and offering outstanding teaching programs for medical professionals. Children up to age 18 with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate are eligible for care, regardless of the families’ ability to pay. Within these broad service lines, many types of care are provided. For example, some facilities offer reconstructive plastic surgery, treatment for craniofacial abnormalities or care for sports injuries. Generally, care is provided until age 18, although, in some cases, it may be extended to age 21. All services are provided in a compassionate, family-centered environment.
